In one of the most feared and dangerous slums in all of Kenya live 11 courageous women with their 30 children. From the corrugated walls of their hot tin shanties with earthen floors these women have come together in the search of hope. They have formed their own community of support, the “Women of KOCH” and have received microloans from Humanity Unites Brilliance (HUB) to start their own businesses of selling coal, vegetables, biscuits and crafts to their neighbors along the dirt alleyways of this area, known as Korogocho. These women all share a common thread; they are mothers, they are single, and most of them are HIV positive. At first they were benefiting greatly by generating an income to support their families and community. Sadly, as has been experienced with many micro finance loans in Developing World countries, their businesses were not sustainable due to their poor health, compounded by malnutrition.
The Gift of Life Project is a collaborative effort between Foster Health, Ancient Naturals, Humanity Unites Brilliance (HUB) and the Harold Foster Foundation, that will supply the “Women of KOCH” and their thirty children, many living with HIV/AIDS, with nutritional bars from Ancient Naturals, local food and Foster Health’s immune booster and antioxidant nutritional supplement Replenish, to dramatically improve their compromised health. Their situation is dire, many are starving. Please donate below to help raise $25,000 immediately to allow us to create a full cycle of sustained wellness for the women of Korogocho.
