Shipment Arrives in Bushenyi, Notes Received from the Women

Uganda Project Update With some assistance from a generous friend who was travelling to Uganda, we have sent over another shipment of nutritional supplements to Bushenyi, Uganda. The project coordinator made the trip to Kampala to pick up the supplements, and we are very happy to hear everyone is continuing to feel better and are doing well.

Dr. Foster Inducted into Orthomolecular Medicine Hall of Fame

On Saturday, May 1, Dr. Harold Foster was inducted in the Orthomolecular Medicine Hall of Fame at the 39th Annual Orthomolecular Medicine Today Conference in Vancouver, BC. Dr. Foster, along with fellow inductees Casimir Funk and Dr. Bruce Ames, joined other great contributors to the world of medicine such as Linus Pauling, Abram Hoffer, Frederick Klenner, and Thomas L. Cleave. The award was accepted by JP Lafleur on behalf of Dr. Foster. Below is an excerpt out of the Hall of Fame introduction write up.

Dr. Jim Beaton has been invited to the 2009 Farm Forum held in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on Nov 18-19 to speak about the importance of Selenium in Human and Animal Health. The abstract was co-written with Dr. Harold Foster, and focuses on the importance of Selenium, discusses benefits derived from it and puts forward suggestions on ways to incorporate it's use into the farming industry. US AIDS Conference SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Data presented today from a 310 patient, 52 week, double-blind, controlled clinical trial demonstrates that a micronutrient supplement, Replenish+™ delays the progression of AIDS in HIV-infected patients not receiving antiretroviral treatment (ART).1 Replenish+™ formulated by study investigator Dr Harold Foster, delayed the progression of HIV to AIDS as observed by significant increases in CD4 counts, glutathione peroxidase levels, weight and quality of life parameters (as measured by Karnofsky scores).

Dr. Foster’s abstract "The Role of Micronutrients in the Progression of HIV/AIDS: Clinical Evidence' was accepted to be presented at the US AIDS Conference in San Francisco at the end of October 2009. This is the largest AIDS-related conference in the United States, where over 3,000 workers from all areas of the HIV/AIDS sector come together to build national support networks, exchange the latest information and learn cutting-edge strategies to address the challenges of HIV/AIDS. Attendees include case managers and physicians, public health workers and advocates, “People Living with HIV/AIDS” (PLWH/As) and policy makers.
